Adoptable Dogs
Our Foster and Train Program is a custom program we have created and put into place with our friends at the NorthShore Humane Society. The purpose of this program is to help give the “less adoptable” dogs sitting in the shelter, a higher chance at finding a forever home through socialization, obedience training, and of course tons of love and structure.
All of the adoptable dogs are:
- Fully Vetted
- Microchipped
- Obedience Training
- Spayed or Neutered
Ava
This sweet girl’s name is Ava. She is a rescue that was originally from the Northshore Humane Society as a younger pup and was adopted out to a family.
Within the few years that she was there, she had some issues with the family dogs. This resulted in her being brought back to the shelter and placed back up for adoption. She had been in the shelter for about a month with no interest whatsoever.
We saw HUGE potential in this sweet girl, so instead of letting Ava fall into a cycle of fear and reactivity, we took her out of the shelter and placed her into our Foster & Train Program.
Since being out of the shelter, this almost 6 year old girl is a cuddling machine. She loves long naps, laying on the couch, does great with kids, is obsessed with tennis balls, loves exploring the backyard, and has learned boundaries and respect when it comes to other dogs.
Ava will go to her new home fully obedience trained, kennel trained, and potty trained. Her training fee is at no cost to her potential forever family, and they will receive one free refresher per year, for the rest of her life if needed AND unlimited trainer support along with the initial 2 hour introduction lesson to show them all of her amazing skills!
If you are interested in adopting any of these sweet Foster and Train Pups, here are the few steps to follow in order to get started:
View the adoptable animals by clicking the link to The Northshore Humane Society on the bottom of this page or by visiting the facility.
Fill out an application HERE. All applications are processed before meeting one of their pets; this process can take up to 48 hours. An Adoption Counselor will review your application by checking a veterinarian reference for current or past pets that reside(d) in the home. **Please keep in mind: while all of their rescued pets are available for adoption, each is in a different stage of getting their medical care. Some are still in the process of getting these services and many not be available to be taken home immediately.
You can always set up a meet and greet with your potential new companion by emailing rescue@nshumane.org!
Once your application is approved, an adoption counselor will be in contact to meet and/or finalize your new best friend’s adoption!
- ***We wish you the best of luck with adopting, but please understand that we are not affiliated with the adoption process that NHS has put in place, therefore we can not provide any updates on applications or the process.***
